Since 1971
Knowledge, trust,
and quality.
What we bring to every relationship is simple — and it hasn't changed in five decades.
The story
110 days. One suitcase.
Doors that opened.
In 1971, a young Narendra Kantilal Shah left Mumbai with his savings and pure ambition — and embarked on a solo business trip that lasted over 110 days. He travelled across the Seychelles, Nairobi, Kampala, Zambia, Zanzibar, Tanzania and Mombasa — then onwards to the UK, Germany, Asmara, Djibouti and Aden.
He stood outside shops for hours just to get a meeting. He knocked on doors that had no reason to open. Slowly, they did.
He began with garment exports — block printing, jute bags — and expanded into food products, following opportunity with the same fearlessness that defined that first trip.
"Trust and quality are never negotiable."Narendra Kantilal Shah — Founder, still guiding the business today
Three generations, one table
Something rare.
A business where the founder's wisdom, a lifetime of operational experience, and the sharpness of a new generation all sit at the same table — every day.
Narendra Kantilal Shah
Founder
The man who made the 110-day journey. Actively involved in guiding, mentoring, and holding the business to the standard he set five decades ago. His principle has never changed.
Hemal Narendra Shah
Operational backbone
Hands-on from the ground up — the supplier relationships, the sourcing decisions, the market knowledge that only comes from decades of being in it every single day. The bridge between the foundation his father built and the future his sons are shaping.
Krishang & Hetansh Shah
The next chapter
Krishang holds a master's in business and finance from the University of Warwick with five years in the business — analytical rigour with instincts grown around this trade. Hetansh is completing his bachelor's and already learning the ropes.
Why traders, not manufacturers
Loyal to your requirement.
Not to one factory.
A manufacturer sells you what their plant produces. We source what your market actually needs — from whichever region, mill or processor does it best that season.
With a vendor network across India and hands-on ground research, we know which grade to recommend, when to stock for the season, and when price movements are likely to reach the market due to crop shortages. That insight, built over decades, is the Hemu Exports difference.
Where we source
From the regions that gave
each product its name.
Guntur
India's chilli capital — home of the deep-red, high-heat chillies the world knows.
Andhra PradeshKolhapur
The gold standard for jaggery — bhili blocks, powder and tukda with unmatched depth.
MaharashtraUnjha
Asia's largest cumin market — jeera, fennel and seed spices at their freshest.
GujaratAmritsar
Punjabi wadi, jaggery pindi and the North's signature preparations.
PunjabKerala & Karnataka
Black pepper, cardamom and betelnut country — the original spice coast.
The SouthKashmir
The prized Kashmiri chilli — colour-rich, gentle heat, unmistakable aroma.
Jammu & KashmirOur values
What five decades taught us.
Quality
Every consignment inspected before shipment. Grades verified, lots lab tested, packaging checked. The founder still holds the business to his own standard.
Reliability
Fifty years of shipments kept on schedule. When we commit to a grade, a price and a date, that commitment is the product.
Long-term relationships
Our first UK buyers are still our buyers. We'd rather grow with ten partners for thirty years than chase a hundred one-time orders.
